  Hello everyone!  I have been so neglectful to this blog and I appologise, but I have been so busy!  I am so pleased to FINALLY introduce my line of porcealin BJDS!  I sculpt my original dolls from polymer (same as before) but now I am making plaster molds from the originals and casting them in porcelain!

  My daughter has named her "Rosie" but you can call her what you like.  This is a customizable doll...you choose the porcelain color I cast her in, wig color and facial expression and colors to make her a unique doll all YOUR own!  This is an open edition meaning there is no set limit to production, however given you make the choices and coloring she will still be an OOAK (one of a kind).  The doll will come to you nude but with a wig of your choice.  Costume options will be available for purchase in my Etsy store.

Started work on a new BJD!

Hi everyone! 
  I hope you are all handling the summer well!  It has been hot here!  I am very happy to have started on a new project a gofun bjd.  This one is "Alice", she will be 18 inches tall when finished.  I am trying to finish her within in the next month so she will be ready for the Dollery's fall show.  I would also like to sculpt a Mad Hatter to accompany her, but I don't know if I will have the time...so right now I will just concentrate on Alice.  As of today I have her head fully sculpted and finished.  This is the way it looks sculpted in the stone clay.  After I have the rest of the body done I will coat it in several layers of gofun.  Gofun is a pigment made of ground oyster shell...when it is applied in thin layers to a doll it looks like the finest porcelain.  This is a very time consuming process, that is why I say I don't think I will have time to make a Mad Hatter as well.  I will post pictures here on my blog as I work.  Stay cool everyone!

Progress!

Covered in this CD: How to make advanced joints, including "double joints", like those on resin BJD Dolls; My techniques on how to acheive a completely smooth and blemish free surface on your doll. Some sculpting and prior knowledge of working with polymer clay is required. THIS IS NOT A "LEARN TO SCULPT" TUTORIAL. While this tutorial will not teach you to sculpt a figure in clay (you need to know how to do this already**), or paint and costume your finished figure, I will show the experienced doll maker how to add movement to their doll making skills, by creating a ball jointed doll! Ball joint doll design, sculpting each individual piece, adding joints to those pieces and stringing your creation will all be thoroughly covered! You will be amazed to see your doll come to life with movement, and if made and strung properly..your doll should be able to stand on it's own un-aided!!
